The Cornerstone Scripture Study is structured to meet the needs of
beginners and of those more versed in the Bible. It is comprised of
four approaches:
Questions for Personal Scripture Study each Week
Each week members are given a set of questions that relate to a passage
of Scripture from the current study. The format of the study is designed
to help develop a daily opportunity to spend time in Scripture. Each day
ends with a life application question designed to lead members into
reflection and prayer.
Sample Questions
Small Group Sharing
Each member of The Cornerstone is assigned to a small group and remains a
part of this group for both semesters. Facilitators lead their small
groups through the weekly questions and shared answers, generally
nurturing a warm fellowship among the members of the group.
Lecture with Relevant Personal Application
Following the small group meetings, all of The Cornerstone members gather
for a lecture by a teaching leader who weaves personal applications into
the week’s study. This may also include historical and theological
background. There is no question that the Word God spoke to His people of
old remains equally vital and meaningful today.
Commentaries Written by Catholic Theologians
After The Cornerstone lecture has ended in prayer, the members are given
a commentary prepared by a Catholic theologian. The commentary is the
finishing touch, which seals and settles the passage.
