About Us
What is the Cornerstone
Study. Connect. Transform. These words describe what the Cornerstone Catholic Scripture Study has done for its members, starting back in 1986. Since then, it has grown from one Branch to many, with twenty-one Bible study groups, known as Branches, spread throughout the United States. This study is for adults who wish to deepen their faith through spending time with the Word of God. We study one Book of scripture each study year. Our study year typically runs from September to April. Each Branch has its own schedule and location. To find out more about our Branches and how to join one, click here.

“The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; by the LORD has this been done; it is wonderful in our eyes.”
Psalm 118:22-23 (NABRE)
Our Study
The Cornerstone is a fully integrated Bible study for men and women 18 years or older, offering participants four different ways of understanding Scripture. These four ways include individual lessons, weekly meetings, spiritual reflections, and commentary.
Uncover the richness of Scripture that guides individuals on their journey toward a deeper and richer understanding of the Bible by showing how it applies to everyday life. Each year, we examine one book of the Bible in depth. This year’s study is the Acts of the Apostles. To find out more about our current study, click here.
Our History

In 1984, a group of five Catholic women came together with the desire to create a fulfilling, deeply impactful study that would bring awareness to the power of scripture. These five Catholic women had finished a six-year non-denominational scripture study called Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). Through this study, they came to know why Scripture is called the Living Word of God and how much it impacted their individual lives. The power of Scripture, along with their deep and abiding love of their Catholic faith, brought the desire to pass that knowledge onto others. They began to seek a comparable Catholic study and, upon finding none, created their own.
It all started when a priest suggested that they gather regularly to pray and ask for the Lord’s guidance. The women met weekly for over a year and at their meetings, new faces would appear with the same goal of wanting to commit to the power of prayer and the development of a Catholic Bible study. The five founders were constantly amazed by their oneness of purpose and the way their ideas flowed together. Believing this to be confirmation that the Holy Spirit was guiding them, the founders formulated a plan to launch The Cornerstone Catholic Scripture Study in 1986.
Now in 2025, the Cornerstone has grown to 21 Branches in 8 states with over 1000 men and women meeting in person or remotely online. The Cornerstone exists today because of God’s power to act in the presence of a committed community who love the Lord and love each other. “The stone the builders rejected” has truly become The Cornerstone. It is the Lord’s work, and it is marvelous in all our eyes.
